 The second box is an expansion box, and many owners remove it, and just
put in a bit of pipe. You gain a few BHP, and it sounds a lot better. On
the Farina Magnettes, the first ones had just the MGA system elongated a
bit, and with one silencer. The later ones after 1962 had that extra box
by the rear axle, and lost some BHP in the process.
