#1 (yesterday) was a tow in to the shop I work out of for a body shop
wanting to get mechanical straight prior to it's next stop, the
interior shop. It was a real nice 77 B.
#2 (yesterday) This one I'm kicking myself in the head for. I got a
call from Joe Curto (Mr S.U.) that there was a 67 B in Queens available
for under $500 but that it was more than he was will to tackle. I
figured if Curto is not going to tackle it then far be it from me to
try. I passed the info to the body shop mentioned in tow #1 and he went
to look and called for me to come and get it. Strange 67 B, the DPO had
added the later rubber bumpers. Other than that it was real solid and
had some neat stuff like an early overdrive, after market wooden
steering wheel, stow away top frame and all kinds of spares. Was gotten
for $300. I will admit that when I got home last night and squeezed my
74 BGT in the driveway behind the 58 Austin, 76 B and Adam's 72 B (not
to mention the 75 B in the garage or 76 Midget and 79B I have stored in
a friend's body shop). I really don't need any more.
#3 (today) call came in at 6:45 A.M. from a list subscriber (who can ID
himself if he wishes), his 67 BGT had broken down on Long Island
Expressway in Queens. Got to him in just under an hour and there was a
fabulous car. This car was found thru a Mike Robson post last spring.
It is, by far, one of the most beautiful GTs I have ever seen. I cut
him a decent discount and he offered a ridiculously large tip of which
I only took half. When I turned in receipt and cash to my boss later in
day, I said, " Hope you don't mind the discounts for the MGs" he said
"not at all" to which I replyed "I figured it ain't my money it's
your's, so what the hey?".
All in a couple of day's work and a nice break from the 16 other calls
I handled yesterday and today.
