Hello all,

I now own a 1973 MGB roadster. Wow is this thing fun. I can't believe
how much fun something so slow can be to drive. It's orange and has
very little rust (effectively none), 72K miles. Of course it has some
Lucasisms, but I'll get over it.

So far a acouple of things are stumping me, and I hope someone has some
insight.

1. Is there any way to repair those "lift-a-dot" things? Some of the
wires seem to be pulling out of them and they're becoming useless. And
it will be cold soon...

2. Transmission. This is the one that bothers me. The car simply won't
go into gear unless I rev up the engine. This technique works with the
pedal in, so I don't think it's the syncros (it also shifts fine when
rolling). Sometimes if I try for fourth (??) at a stoplight, it will go
into fourth, and then first os fine. Strange.

As there is no clutch slippage, and the car shifts fine when it's
moving, my first inclination os the hydraulics need bled. Sound
reasonable? having owned nothing but Hondas up to now I haven't the
first clue what the problem here could be.

TIA and go out and drive your cars, it's nice outside (70 degrees /
sunny here in NC).
