Carb rebuild

I'm in the process of rebuilding my HIF4 carbs. The video (hi Lawrie)
shows that one should retain the copper washer from the old needle and
seat and transfer it to the new needle and seat. Well, there was no
copper washer (or any or kind) on the old needle and seat. Is there
something special about this washer or can I go get one locally to fit?
