Hi,

the rebound straps stop the back of the car parting company with the axle
during airborne sections of travel over bumps and extreme cornering. They
stop the springs from being stretched by the weight of the axle, and the
angle of the diff. to the prop shaft becoming too great. Fix them, it's
easy. The most common problem is that sometimes the fitting on the axle is
broken, but apparently there is a kit from Mo$$ to overcome this.

Whilst you're in there, check the springs, spring fixtures, shock absorbers,
U bolts and handbrake cable for

a) presence
b) condition
c) security
