There is a product which I used---it goes by the name EXTREME. It can be found
in auto parts stores and shops that cater to hotrodders. It is a very long
length of cotton like material which is soaked in a pink colored liquid. You
tear off a piece and rub the item to be polished in a circular motion. The
cotton becomes dark black---keep rubbing---then rub the item being polished
with a very clean dry rag or towel..By the way this circlular rubbing is not
done vigorously, just very lightly......it's some sort of chemical reaction.
It works great on aluminum, brass and even steel. Then spend a few bucks for
some K&N air cleaners, and an aluminum valve cover and the engine bay looks
like a million bucks. good luck Jerry
