Engine/Gearbox Mating--Aaarrrggghhh!

Last time I did this on a different engine, I had no problem, but I spent 4
hours yesterday trying to get the gearbox mated to the engine with zero
luck. Looks like the problem is I can't seem to get the clutch tool to
align the clutch properly with the pilot bush. I tried two different
clutches and it will not align smoothly with either. Also I have the engine
sitting on its pan and sliding the gearbox in, maybe this is the problem.
Thank you greatly for any ideas?
