i just wanted to write the thanks everyone for their input of fixing the
accelerator cable.
i went to the bike shop i race for, and they gave me a brake cable to use.
for others' future knowledge, make sure to get the type of cable for
mountain bike (high end road bikes are different). the cost would have
been 2 bucks.
it fit beautifully, and i am all set and running now. thanks again to
everyone!
