Hi Scott,

I remember very well getting my heater unit from the BGT.
Between the furewall and the unit there is a foam ring.
During the hot years in California where my car came from this foam has
acted as unbelievable strong glue.
I had to take saw in a difficult position in order to separate the heater
unit from the firewall.

The difficult part also is the connected cable - reconnecting of course.

Good luck.

Cheers,

Hans
