Jason:

To start off with, I hate springs, always have, always will. For
some reason trying to get consistant spring rates is really tough.

This is info I put together to make sure that customers got the
correct springs in their order.

It is based on measuring springs that were on the shelf and
comparing the paint ID markings.

MGB RD -75 264-375 blue/yellow 9 7/8" free length
MGB RD 75- 264-380 orange 10 1/8" free length
MGB GT 264-390 red 9 1/4 free length These have 0.52
wire diam

480LB 264-385 none 9 1/16" free length
550LB 264-395 silver/green 8" free length
660LB 264-335 purple/yellow 7" free length These have 0.54
wire diam

Check the paint code on the spring from your car. The ones I
checked did measure 9 7/8" closer to the spec you mentioned.

I have dealt with all kinds of fun switches, where springs were
mis-shipped from the UK. We had never had a color cross reference chart to
check them. When you put an MGB spring in a TR4 they ride very strangely.

Hope this helps

Kelvin.
