Mark:
Both motors are dependable, neither is a "lemon".
Each has strong points and weak points. The 5 main was an
evolutionary change to suit a FWD application, not a fix for any problem.
IMHO don't let the type of motor sway you. Find a good car that preferably
has the original drivetrain, and that has not been messed with too much.
63-67 MGBs had few foibles, so unless the PO really knew what they were
doing, you want to stay original.
