Mark, the 3 main was less stout than the 5 main, hence the change, but the 3
main can make more power due to less frictional loss. The basic problem is
crankshaft whip at high revs. Its not accurate to call it a lemon. Many T
series and MGAs are running around on 3 main engines. John
