Dennis,
  A neighbor has just replaced the rubber seals on his MGB windshield. 
Having tried soap&water and some other slippery stuff, he finished the
job using PAM, the frying pan spray.  I wasn't there-didn't see it done,
but he related that the PAM worked best for him.
