Bob,

I think it's time to check all drive train for play:
Check uni joints from gearbox to rear axle.
If that's fine - proceed to the differential gear box.
Hold the incoming connection from the gearbox still and have each rear wheel
turned.
The play should be limited (don't know how much though - I don't have clunk
noise)
Maybe play in the leaf spring rubbers can be contributing to this noise.
