        From 68 on mirrors were regulated by the US DOT.  At least the holes
were drilled by the factory.  The mirrors may have been dealer mounted to
prevent breakage, I dunno.

        68-72  LH door mirror, swingaway style.  RH fender mounted mirror
        73  Matching door mirrors, similar to the earlier style
        74-80  Breakaway type door mirrors using a brittle wedge mount
screwed to the door and a grubscrew to secure the mirror base.

        You are correct about the earlier -67 mirrors being dealer
installed.  Usually these were of Lucas manufacture.
