I'm also going with the VW theory, it looks like a chopped car on the front,
but the back, definately has a German influence, that's my two pence for what
it's worth.

I thought the bonnet was somewhat Bentley-like - there are some old series
Bentleys with near identical bonnets, though I've yet to see one with the
rest of the vehicle like that.
Of course, it could be a Frankencar. I know of people who used to put
Rolls Royce bonnets on VW bugs.
