Sigh,

I tried to start the A (1600 Mk1) again today and yep the batteries are flat
again. When I tested the Dynamo, it appeared to be putting out around 14V.
One anomaly tho. The car used to display the ignition warning lamp when the
revs dropped low like below 500rpm, now the light never turns on. This
happened sometime round the time I removed the Oil/Temp gauge. I'm pretty
sure it's not the batteries. They take a decent charge and turn over like a
champ for about a week/week and a half, then slowly die. Normally after a
night run with headlights on. Recommendations?

Also, how hard is it to switch her to an Alternator, and a 12V battery? Mine
has the stock dual 6V's with intact stock battery baskets. I doubt the thick
black lead would reach to power a single 12V so what do I do here? Also,
what type of 12V battery will fit in a single basket? I always get batttery
problems with these cars, and it drives me nuts. 6V's are so expensive, and
IMO, so hopeless!! There must be a better solution!

Cheers,
Neil
