Mine was front-ended by a PU in reverse. It missed the bumper and bumper
guards entirely and crumpled the front edge of the bonnet. This is the
complaint as regards SUVs in a nutshell.
Presumably regulations directed towards SUVs would have no effect on
"passenger vehicles", since current passenger vehicle standards are not
applied to "light trucks", which is the loophole that allows these
mismatches, and was presumably intended to exclude delivery vehicles,
PUs, and true off-road vehicles, not glorified station wagons and street
domination units.
An aside: there have been several snide comments about the prevalence of
off-topic postings recently, compared to "real" MG questions. Has anyone
considered that this may be a "good thing"? To me it indicates that
everyone's MGs are behaving properly, being driven, ands allowing their
owners to enjoy the spring weather, as opposed to being fractious,
irritable and non-operable; thus leaving plenty of bandwidth available
for shooting the breeze and ruminations on marginally-related subjects.
But if feel it necessary to sabotage your MG in order to pose a knotty
question to the list, go right ahead...
