Doug and Cynthia:

You shouldn't be smelling fuel while driving at anytime
regardless of the vehicle make.  If the smell is noticable while
driving down the road, the fuel leak is most likely in the engine
compartment.

Step One: Quit driving the car.

Step Two: Buy a good fire extinguisher that's rated for car fires
and mount it in the passenger compartment.

Step Three: Find and fix the leak.
