Andrew,
Clausager's Original MGB says that the 18GD engine was fitted from Nov. '67
to Oct. '68 for home and export cars (including Canada), but not for cars to
the USA. It was the same as the US spec 18GF engine minus the emissions
equipment (air pump and injectors). They do list an 18GD engine for cars
with the automatic tranny, but they have a "Rc" suffix as opposed to the
"We" suffix on yours. BTW, my '71 B also has the wrong engine currently
installed (a 18GH instead of 18GK). Also has a '72 and later black valve
cover w/ the BL sticker, and also a later "side fill" (i.e. PITA) tranny.
