Octane and altitude ratios???

Edwin knew the information on oil measurements, does anyone know of an
equation that allows you to take altitude into the calculation when
trying to determine the correct octane fuel?

I know higher compression engines require higher octane fuels to keep
from pinking, and I know at higher altitudes you don't need as high of
octane, but how does it all fit together?
