Nothing like that. When I did mine, there was not that much tension. I
undid the four pan screws and the spring did pop out somewhat but the jack
was holding it in place. Reassembling, I had a hard time compressing the
spring enough to get the pan bolts to line up (weight of the car was not
enough). But I just had another person push down on the fender enough to
get the added compression needed.
