Hi Mark,
There are two fuel pumps for the Midget 1500 engine. One has a loong
arm and is supposed to be used with a spacer between the engine and
block. The other has a short arm and uses no spacer. If you use the
long-arm pump with no spacer it breaks off into the sump. The electric
pump should be OK if it is a low-pressure unit; like unto 3 PSI.
Your problem sounds like either an air leak in the intake system or a
carb with a partial blockage in the power circuits. Is the DGV new or
used?
