I think it is there to stop fumes being drawn back through the tube and into
the cabin, the same bulb is on my daughters Metro of 1990's vintage. Many
people do cut them off, my daily driver/lives outside has not been blocked
in the 5 years/50k miles I have had it.

'Green' as in the colour of the wires. The bottom fuse is always hot, brown
(unfused) one side and purple (fused) the other. 2nd fuse up is ignition,
white (white/brown on later cars, unfused) on one side and green (fused) on
the other. The top two two fuses are for the side/parkling lights, one each
side.

That's not too bad, Workshop Manual says 10 - 25 idle, 50 - 80 running. It
also says the relief valve should open at 70.

MGB plugs are all based on the original N9Y i.e. RN9Y, RN9YCC etc.
