Bud,
        I have the same problem on a 76B. My local guru - who is a
lister occassionally - Reg -  said that problem is a classic symptom of a worn
fork (which, since I 
have never done a transmission, don't even know what that means (but I
probably will with the soon to arrive replies)). His advice...as you
noted...live with it until it gets too bad.  Mine isn't there yet.
