I don't think you should worry.  I drive my MGA at 70-75 mph with the revs @
3700 and have had no problems, not even one breakdown in the @7k miles put
on this year.  My B revs at @ 4k at @ 70mph, if memory serves me, and have
not had any problems with that either, even with 4 people in it!!  Just ask
Jeff Zorn.
IMHO, these cars were designed to run at higher rpms and you will not be
harming your car by running there.
Of course, this is just my experience and opinion and YMMV.
