Edwin and All,
              we have a Russian Yak here in South Australia.  It's true that
the Pilot added fuel to the oil at start-up and this evaporated as the
engine & oil warmed up. Another odd feature is the lack of normal Hydraulic
operation, these are operated by compressed air pressure.  The plane sounds
like a big truck hissing and wheezing when it taxies out to fly. [No worries
about fluid freezing]

Our local MG club [Mandatory LBC content] visited the airfield last October
and viewed all the planes in the vintage and veteran flying club hangers.
Some took a flight [fright?] in a Tiger Moth.
