My son had a 1987 Honda CRX for a short while (until the BMW pulled out of a 
bar, right in front of him) and it has the cat con in front of the transverse 
engine, on the down tube.  Same as my Midget, but with the engine turned 
sideways.  This is probably not as uncommon as you think.
