As a side to originally help my friend I started selling some of his huge
pile o'parts. At first I tried the on-line classified route but I found it
to be a very frustrating venue. I spent much more time to talk with several
different people giving different replies to people, going back and taking
another picture of this or that and figuring shipping to many different
parts of the globe and after weeks still not having a sale. The problem I
was having was tire kickers wasting my time. I would have to go through
8-10 people it seemed before maybe making a sale. It was expensive in time
and money. I found in eBay that I listed a part and it sold or not, if
someone won the auction I gave them a shipping figure they sent the money
and I sent them the part. If there was a problem with the deal you had the
recourse of leaving bad feedback. It saves me so much time and energy and I
can get parts to the people that really want them at a price that they were
happy with. If I am asking too much money, I will not get bids, there are
several hundred auctions going on right now just for MGB parts alone. I do
love live swap meets and jumbles but they are few and far between here in
Maine so right now this works for me and it gives me a little money to
spend on parts for my car. The example you offer below has nothing to do
with eBay or any other auction site and it illustrates very well the
problems I have encountered with selling via classifieds
