Some listers have posted questions abouut digital cameras in the past. I
just got back from the Photo Marketing Association trade show and they always
have a digital camera shoot-out to see what the attendees think is the best
camera. They shoot a picture of the same subject in the same conditions and
post them all, by price category and without identification. People at the
show vote on which is best in each price category.

Here are the winners:

DIGITAL CAMERA SHOOT-OUT WINNERS ANNOUNCED

the 2001 DIMA Digital Camera Shoot-Out at PMA 2001. Among the
entries were 53 digital cameras from 18 different manufacturers.
The following winning entries were selected by votes cast by PMA
2001 trade show attendees based on image/print quality,
functionality, and price.

--More than $16,000: Jobo profile 6000, Jobo Fototechnic Inc.

So if you are looking for a digital camera, choose your price and go shopping
for that model. Granted, there are feature differences to take into account
when buying a camera, but I saw the original images at the show, and in most
cases, the winners were OBVIOUSLY better than the rest. Keep in mind that
the cheapest cameras are still fine for web site posting, but will probably
not result in the best hard copy.

And BTW, FWIW, YMMV!
