See what happens when everyone converts to 12V batteries. This is bad news
indeed. Granted, I didn't buy from NAPA last time because they wanted about
$70/battery and I have a local Montana vendor that was getting 17HF
batteries for me for $45. Last time, they no longer stocked them so I had a
three day wait.
The alternative is a group 26 battery. I found one for my son's car at
Sears (Diehard) and it had a strap attached. This is important because the
group 26 battery is a tight fit and the strap allows it to be pulled out
easily. Not all group 26 batteries will fit, depending on how the base is
designed.
I suggest you buy one or two of the plastic battery boxes from Moss or a
Moss distributer. Then you can use one to test a battery's fit before you
purchase it (as I did at Sears). Then you can use the one empty battery
housing to hold the box which can store tools or other misc items. So there
are a few advantages to converting to a 12 volt battery.
