Phil:

Andy Moyceis trying to convert a TD to an alternator to run extra
lights.  TD tachs are mechanically driven by a cable and run off
the generator through a small gearbox.  When you install an
alternator, not only do you need to convert the positive ground
TD to negative ground, but you must also install an electronic
tach as you now have now way to run the mechanical one.
