I need some help. I have found a 67 mgb for sale. This is what I found
today. Engine seems real strong. Could not find any signs of leaking. The
owner had painted the engine bay about four years ago an off white.
Transmission (no OD) shifted smooth. Could not find any faults there. Gauges
in good condition. All worked except the Temp gauge which is a combo with the
oil pressure. Oil part did work. The PO had added a cheap aftermarket gauge
off to the side. Interior in decent shape. Will need new panels Some of the
carpet is worn but useable. Now the problem I have is with the RUST. I
pulled the carpet up on the drivers side and found a couple of holes about the
size of a dime. The quarter panels have rust along the bottom edges. The
rockers have holes in them. And there is surface rust along the whole under
side. I have never done any welding or body work at all. Is it feasible for
me to buy a car with this much rust? How much would having the floor pans and
rockers replaced cost? Is it worth it? Oh I would probably have to replace a
door skin as well. The inside of the trunk has surface rust but couldn't find
any holes. He tells me he put new rotors on the front and replaced all the
brake lines. It has dual su's and a new oil cooler. It has been converted to
12 volt battery. All lights seem to work. Top leaks, but top frame is in
good shape. How much do you think it is worth? Any advice is welcome.
Something he also told me is that the title shows it is a 66 but he says he
found that it wasn't made until 67. Is this normal? Thanks again
