More currency exchange - was Re: Getting GBP in US

On a related note, what is the best way to send money out of country? In 
this case, another lister in Canada told me to send him a check for some 
used car parts. Can I send a standard US bank check to him? Another 
Canadian lister that I have dealt with just sends and receives US dollars 
through the mail to/from the states. I'm not sure that I trust the US 
postal service that much.
