OK, I'll check and see if I have fluid on the shoes. I need to purge the
brake fluid anyway so that won't be a big deal.

I'm glad I am not the only one perplexed. The cover on top of the tunnel
is riveted on, I wonder if it is an aftermarket cover to allow a conversion
to a different transmission? I haven't tried yet to change the bolts for
something with a smaller diameter head until I get the unit
id'd. Hopefully someone will recognize what's going on.
