Older tires in which the tread is loose, moving, and squirming can also
cause this shimmying. It can happen on tires 7-8 years old. It
happened to me on some lower mileage pickup tires that were less than
ten years old. I had to throw them away before they were worn out.
They were Goodyear steel belted radials. It's sometimes hard to tell
visually. Have him switch the fronts to the rear. I did and it helped
for about a year.
