There should be an inline fuse connecting a white/brown to a green, possibly
under the fusebox, possibly one of two.  Whilst the ignition relay feeds the
fans, the tach and the gauges if the relay were failing all the ignition
circuits including the engine would fail.  If all the green circuits are
failing, that is brake lights, reverse lights, turn signals, wipers,
washers, heater fan as well as the gauges then the 2nd fuse up in the
fusebox or the connections to and from it is probably to blame.  If only the
gauges then it will be one of the many double connectors in the green
circuit or the multi-plug behind the dash.
