No yellow light will only last one second (35 mph is approx 50' per
second). Use a reasonable example. The ones I've seen are more like five
seconds minimum. You would have to be more than 250' to be caught by the
red. Of course, if you are ignoring the speed limit, things start
getting a bit tighter.
Our political system has means to change rules. Rather than ignoring the
rules you disagree with, work to get them changed. Or agree to the
consequences.
I for one am tired of excuses for the way people drive. My favorite here
in St. Pete is that they tail gate to keep people from cutting them off.
Bull, they just can't stand to have somebody change lanes in front of
them. Other than the MG and the F-150, I also drive a '60 Series II Land
Rover. 4000 lb, 60 horses, and poor brakes. Yes folks change lanes in
front of me, but you know what? It doesn't slow me down lower than the
speed limit (50 on US 19), so what do I care?
