Only 1980 models had a VIN plate which included the paint and trim colours.
Other than that you can really only determine the original colour from the
Heritage Certificate, but as Larry says if you are lucky there will only be
one specific shade at any one time for a given base colour, but if you are
close to a changeover point you may get the wrong one.  Mostly there was
only one white in use at a time and in the 1970 model year it was Glacier
White which was used right up to 77 so no problem there, but in 69 it was
Snowberry White.  The changeover point in chassis numbers was 187140 for the
roadster and 187841 for the GT.
