Nope, no stretching. The HS4s would get too cold to work after sitting for
hours in 20-30 below temperatures. There's only 6 bolts and the supply to
dis-connect since the linkages stayed in the car. I would leave them sit for
about an hour in a box in the kitchen. Back then I wished I had the money
for the carb heaters but I was a poor starving grad student with the MG BGT
as my only means of transport. :-)
