Speaking of this kind of problem, I was helping my brother work on his 92
civic and ran into some really cool bolts that go through sleeves in similar
situations.  The shank of the bolt from the head to the threads was grooved,
similar in fashion to a transmission input shaft.  There were probably 12
grooves around the bolt.  I assume that the idea of this is to provide a
solid surface for the sleeve to contact, but to allow enough void to make it
difficult for the bolt to seize to the sleeve.  The bolts were metric and
were about $5 each, but seem like a really great idea.  Has anyone ever seen
anything like this for american bolts?
