Oh yes - Kelvin, the main reason that the roller bearings came to grief was 
that no matter how much you told the people you sold them to that they needed 
to install a return spring to keep the bearing from touching the clutch when 
not in use, they often failed to do so, and the bearings had short unhappy 
lives, dying noisily when the lube was spun out of them a relatively short time 
after installation.

My friend finally decided it just wasn't worth the trouble and stopped 
selling this 'modern wonder bearing'. Mind you I have seen some real 
interesting 
carbon bearings come out of cars, some worn right through the carbon and half 
way 
through the steel backing piece - and the woman asked why her clutch was 
noisy....
