> parts of the shaft so that you can get the splines back
> together in the same place. Mark front part, then the round
> nut, then the rear shaft itself. Mark all three places,
> because the round nut will be loosened during cleanup and
> reassembly of the shaft, thus it won't be a good reference
> point for reassembly.
Marking the shaft and slip joint is a good idea; but, if you inspect the
drive shaft very carefully you'll see a very faint arrow stamped in the
shaft and the slip joint. Once located you should line up the arrows upon
re-assembly. You may find it has been assembled incorrectly in the past.
