I was all prepared to solder shut my poppets to solve the high idle problem,
but figured I would check everything else before diving in. Car idles fine,
about 700 - 800 rpm when cold, but as it warms up, idle is around 1100 -
1500 rpm. I sprayed some carb cleaner around, and as it hit the union of the
intake manifold & block, it became apparent my leak is back.

Now, when I first did my conversion from ZS to dual HIF's, I checked the
head for flatness using a straight-edge, and had the manifold lightly
belt-sanded. It's quite flat! Everything was assembled with new gaskets, and
torqued down, although I don't recall what the torque setting was, must have
gotten it out of the manual I believe.

It appears to be pulling air at the front of the manifold between the first
and second studs. The front nut was tight, gonna have to pull the carbs to
check the center studs.

My thoughts are to tighten more (how much is too much, don't want to strip
the threads out of the head), maybe use some gasket sealer, I could replace
the gasket again - I used the standard Moss supplied gasket, I think someone
mentioned there is a competition gasket that's thicker?

The flanges on the exhaust & intake manifolds are about the same size, but
perhaps a small shim between the intake's flange and the washer may improve
the situation. I just don't want to wind up with some jack-legged
configuration...
