  Oh, those boots.... multi-purpose grease is fine. Same stuff you use in
the swivel pin fittings, drive shaft sliding joint,  universals and
hand-brake cable. ,  Some say the Ford specification grease is better
than the GM spec, but I doubt that it makes much difference.  We grease
every 1,000 miles or annually anyway.
