They didn't buy just the name, in fact they may not have bought the name at
all.  They bought the rights to manufacture (some of) the cars, the engines
and the production know-how at a fraction of the cost and time it would have
taken to develop it for themselves.  They could well not be interested in
not marketing in Europe and North America, the technology being perceived as
old-fashioned, except possibly as a bargain-basement product that some who
have no interest in cars per se will always buy.  But it will be a huge leap
in technology over what else is currently manufactured in China and the Far
East.
