Hi all,

Bizarre update on my engine problem. After , what seemed like an obvious
engine failure, the engine was stripped down it became clear that......it is
completely undamaged, and everything is as it should be.

Does any one have any ideas why the engine developed a loud knocking and
blew' the cloud of blue smoke, the valve gear became loose and rattley, and
it lost power and yet nothing seems to have failed.

The engine did turn over, albeit roughly, but would not fire up at all.

The engine is being rebuilt with new rings and hardened valve seats. But
this may not relate to the actual problem.

Any suggestions apart from pointing out my ineptitude.

Hi all,

Here goes, The engine developed a 'knock' at the top, back, right of the
engine , difficult to tell exactly where. Whilst driving the engine failed,
leaving me with a nice blue cloud of smoke trailing behind the car and a
very nice rattle and clatter from the valve gear. I have been told it is
possibly a piston problem. Is this probably the case.
