Ultimately both - while the engine is out, fit new engine mounts!!

I had the two sides of one mount completely separate from each other,
thanks just to the age of the rubber (and the fantastic torque of my
stock 1500 UK-spec engine ;) ).  I kept getting a bang/knock sound when
I lifted off from acceleration and had a really hard time working out
what it was, because of course when the car is stationary the engine is
resting on the mount so you can't see it's broken!
