It's actually under the oil filter, low on the block, which would be the
passenger's side (LHD).

a small circle about the size of a quarter or half dollar (cant quite remember).

I bought a spare MGB engine recently and noticed that it had no engine
identification number plate, I been trying to figure out the year of the
engine but have no idea of where to start looking, the only identification
that is on the block is 12H1365, 12H1442 and 12H1777 and then to the right of
those numbers there is a AF3, anybody have any idea???
