BTW, there is a story that the cupholder actually dates to the first car.
Apparently, Mr. Benz was driving the first PatentWagen to meet a group of
potential investors, and took his coffee with him in the car. Of course, he
spilled it all over his slacks, and looked like an idiot at the
presentation. He immediately rushed home and invented the cupholder.
Probably apocryphal, but it makes for a good story.
